Padded 'Pekka' Jacket
Updated: Sep 29
I am a very partial to a jacket and was keen to have a go a sewing one myself. Fell in love with this 'Pekka' jacket pattern by 'Ready to Sew'. I love the jumbo pockets and general shape of it. I saw on their blog that they'd sewn up a version using some beautiful layered cotton by Merchant and Mills which gives it a padded/quilted quality. After spending a lot of time trying to choose what colour to buy my material in (quite frankly they were all so lovely) I plumped for a versatile Khaki. More exciting being that I had just the African print fabric for the lining in mind. Nice knowing you have something individual and secret lurking on the inside. The pattern was a joy to follow with great step-by-step instructions from Ready to Sew (thank you) including a useful video for bagging out the lining stage. It came together pretty quickly, I think the most nerve wracking part was cutting into the beautiful fabric and praying I'd ordered the right amount. Plenty of this lovely African Print fabric for using in my necklaces too - in fact, I missed the opportunity to wear mine in the photo!
